Editorial decision: print the shorter text with high confidence: ℵ A D E F G K L P and almost all versions and Fathers, against B with one minuscule and Clement; the longer text looks shaped by 10:8. Says On either reading the confession is that Jesus is Lord.

Sigla: corrector notation as in Tischendorf (ℵc, Db,c and the like). Minuscules are Gregory–Aland numbers, with Tischendorf's Pauline number once in parentheses; those not verified are counted, not listed. Witnesses are listed only where Tischendorf names them.

SBLGNT, NA28, Treg, RP2018, TR, and Tischendorf 8 read κύριον Ἰησοῦν without τὸ ῥῆμα. WH prints τὸ ῥῆμα … ὅτι ΚΥΡΙΟΣ ΙΗΣΟΥΣ in its text and gives ἐν τῷ στόματί σου κύριον Ἰησοῦν in the margin; the SBLGNT apparatus records the two additions but not WH's nominative.

Manuscripts (Tischendorf 8, vol. 2 (1872), p. 419, leaf n426 (novumtestamentum02tisc)): τὸ ῥῆμα is added by B, one minuscule, and Clement; ὅτι κύριος Ἰησοῦς is read by B, the Coptic, Clement, and Cyril, with Hilary and Augustine in Latin. The first reading's list is Tischendorf's for κύριον Ἰησοῦν; for the absence of τὸ ῥῆμα he names Irenaeus (Lat.), Origen (Lat.), Chrysostom, Theodoret, Cyril, John of Damascus, Hilary, and Ambrosiaster.

Internal: τὸ ῥῆμα and the ὅτι clause echo τὸ ῥῆμα in 10:8 and the ὅτι clause later in 10:9.
