Heb 10:30 and Deut 32:35–36: the form of the quotations
Says Heb 10:30 quotes two lines: Ἐμοὶ ἐκδίκησις, ἐγὼ ἀνταποδώσω (32:35) and Κρινεῖ κύριος τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ (32:36).
Says The first line has the same wording as Rom 12:19 without λέγει κύριος; it differs from both the Hebrew and the LXX in the same ways (see note.cross-reference.Deut.32.35.rom-12-19-form).
Says The second line matches the LXX (ὅτι κρινεῖ Κύριος τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ) and the Hebrew (כִּי־יָדִין יְהוָה עַמּוֹ) word for word, without the opening "for."
Implies In Hebrews the line is a warning to God's people (10:26–31), so κρινεῖ is read as "will judge"; the Hebrew notes treat "vindicate" in Deut 32:36.
SBLGNT marks two variant units in this verse, at ἀνταποδώσω and at the order of Κρινεῖ κύριος. The comparisons here use SBLGNT's printed text; those variant readings are not examined.
