Rom 11:26–27: Isa 59:20–21 with Isa 27:9, and Jer 31:33–34 (MT and LXX)
Says Rom 11:26b–27a quotes Isa 59:20–21a. The MT has וּבָא לְצִיּוֹן גּוֹאֵל וּלְשָׁבֵי פֶשַׁע בְּיַעֲקֹב (uva letsiyyon go'el ulshavey fesha' beya'aqov, "The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who turn from transgression," BSB). Swete has καὶ ἥξει ἕνεκεν Σειὼν ὁ ῥυόμενος καὶ ἀποστρέψει ἀσεβείας ἀπὸ Ἰακώβ.
Says Paul's Ἥξει ἐκ Σιὼν ὁ ῥυόμενος, ἀποστρέψει ἀσεβείας ἀπὸ Ἰακώβ follows the LXX in "the deliverer" for גּוֹאֵל (go'el, "redeemer," BDB p. 145) and in making the deliverer turn ungodliness away (MT: those who turn). His ἐκ Σιὼν ("from Zion") matches neither the MT "to Zion" nor Swete's "for the sake of Zion."
Uncertain The source of "from Zion" (another Greek text, a deliberate change, or a blend of Zion texts) is uncertain.
Says καὶ αὕτη αὐτοῖς ἡ παρʼ ἐμοῦ διαθήκη is Swete's καὶ αὕτη αὐτοῖς ἡ παρ’ ἐμοῦ διαθήκη word for word (MT וַאֲנִי זֹאת בְּרִיתִי אוֹתָם, va'ani zot beriti otam, "this is My covenant with them," BSB).
Says The closing ὅταν ἀφέλωμαι τὰς ἁμαρτίας αὐτῶν takes Swete Isa 27:9, ὅταν ἀφέλωμαι αὐτοῦ τὴν ἁμαρτίαν, where the MT has הָסִר חַטָּאתוֹ (hasir khatta'to, "the removal of his sin," BSB). Both are singular; Paul's "their sins" is plural.
Uncertain Jer 31:34 may also be in view: Swete (38:34) has the plural καὶ τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν αὐτῶν οὐ μὴ μνησθῶ ἔτι, though the MT nouns לַעֲוֺנָם וּלְחַטָּאתָם (la'avonam ulkhatta'tam) are singular ("their iniquities … their sins," BSB).
"All Israel" is treated in note.exegetical.Rom.11.25-Rom.11.27.all-israel. On Isa 59:7–8 see xref.Rom.3.15-Rom.3.17.Isa.59.7-Isa.59.8.heb; on Jer 31:33, xref.Rom.2.15.Jer.31.33.heb.
