Rom 8:32: "did not spare His own Son" and Gen 22:12, 16 (MT and LXX)
Says In Gen 22:12 the angel tells Abraham וְלֹא חָשַׂכְתָּ אֶת־בִּנְךָ אֶת־יְחִידְךָ (velo khasakhta et-binkha et-yekhidkha, "you have not withheld your only son," BSB), and the Lord repeats it in 22:16. חָשַׂךְ (khasakh) is "withhold, refrain" (BDB p. 362).
Says Swete has καὶ οὐκ ἐφείσω τοῦ υἱοῦ σου τοῦ ἀγαπητοῦ at 22:12 and οὐκ ἐφείσω τοῦ υἱοῦ σου τοῦ ἀγαπητοῦ at 22:16. It renders "your only one" as τοῦ ἀγαπητοῦ, "the beloved."
Uncertain Whether Rom 8:32, τοῦ ἰδίου υἱοῦ οὐκ ἐφείσατο, echoes Gen 22. The lean is that it does: Paul uses the LXX verb with "son" as its object, and God gives up his Son as Abraham did not withhold Isaac. The alternative is that "spare" is an ordinary verb here, and Paul's ἰδίου ("his own") is not the LXX's "beloved." On Gen 22 in Romans see also xref.Rom.4.13.Gen.22.17-Gen.22.18.heb.
