For the choirmaster. A Maskil of David. After Doeg the Edomite went to Saul and told him, “David has gone to the house of Ahimelech.” Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The loving devotion of God endures all day long. (MT 52:1-Ps:52:2; MT 52:3; LXX 51:1-Ps:51:2; LXX 51:3; Rahlfs 51:1-Ps:51:2; Rahlfs 51:3)
2Your tongue devises destruction like a sharpened razor, O worker of deceit. (MT 52:4; LXX 51:4; Rahlfs 51:4)
3You love evil more than good, falsehood more than speaking truth. Selah (MT 52:5; LXX 51:5; Rahlfs 51:5)
4You love every word that devours, O deceitful tongue. (MT 52:6; LXX 51:6; Rahlfs 51:6)
5Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin; He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent; He will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah (MT 52:7; LXX 51:7; Rahlfs 51:7)
6The righteous will see and fear; they will mock the evildoer, saying, (MT 52:8; LXX 51:8; Rahlfs 51:8)
7“Look at the man who did not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his wealth and strengthened himself by destruction.” (MT 52:9; LXX 51:9; Rahlfs 51:9)
8But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in the loving devotion of God forever and ever. (MT 52:10; LXX 51:10; Rahlfs 51:10)
9I will praise You forever, because You have done it. I will wait on Your name—for it is good—in the presence of Your saints. (MT 52:11; LXX 51:11; Rahlfs 51:11)
