ὁμολογέω homologeō
confess · acknowledge · promise
Team definition
To speak to the same effect: to agree, confess, or acknowledge, and also to promise. With a person and a predicate accusative it means to confess someone as something. In Rom 10:9 ὁμολογήσῃς ἐν τῷ στόματί σου κύριον Ἰησοῦν is to confess with the mouth that Jesus is Lord. In Rom 10:10 the passive ὁμολογεῖται is used impersonally of confessing with the mouth, paired with πιστεύεται of the heart. The verb also means to promise (Matt 14:7).
