σάρκινος sarkinos
of flesh · fleshly
Team definition
Of flesh, made of flesh: the ending -ινος marks the material (Abbott-Smith), as in "tablets of human hearts" (2 Cor 3:3, BSB). Also Rom 7:14; 1 Cor 3:1; Heb 7:16, where the TR reads σαρκικός (Abbott-Smith; for 7:14 see var.Rom.7.14.sarkinos). Dodson also gives "fleshly, carnal"; whether 7:14 has that ethical shade is taken up in the note. See note.language.Rom.7.14-Rom.7.25.sarkinos-nomos.
