σωρεύω sōreuō
heap on · heap up · load
Team definition
To heap on, with an accusative and ἐπί (epi) plus accusative (Rom 12:20, following the Septuagint wording of Prov 25:22). A second construction, accusative and dative, means to heap or load someone with something (2 Tim 3:6, of sins). The image in Rom 12:20 is lexical here; what the heaped coals signify is not settled by the verb alone.
