Manuscripts (Tischendorf 8, vol. 2 (1872), p. 372): Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ: ℵ* B; Origen has ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ. Tischendorf notes that in ℵ διά was supplied by the first hand or by corrector a. Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ: ℵa A K L P and apparently all others, vg, the Dialogue of Adamantius, Chrysostom, Theodoret. D E and their Latin d e, Ambrose and Ambrosiaster add τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν. Marcion's text (in Tertullian) lacks Ἰησοῦ.

Internal: as at 1:1 (var.Rom.1.1.christou-iesou), either order can arise by assimilation. The addition in D E is a liturgical expansion.
