Rom 2:26, 29 and Ezek 36:26–27: the Spirit and keeping God's statutes

Says Rom 2:26 speaks of the uncircumcised man who τὰ δικαιώματα τοῦ νόμου φυλάσσῃ ("keeps the requirements of the law"), and 2:29 of circumcision ἐν πνεύματι.

Says In Ezek 36:26 God promises וְנָתַתִּי לָכֶם לֵב חָדָשׁ וְרוּחַ חֲדָשָׁה אֶתֵּן בְּקִרְבְּכֶם (venatatti lakhem lev khadash veruakh khadashah etten beqirbekhem, "I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you"), removing the heart of stone. In 36:27: וְאֶת־רוּחִי אֶתֵּן בְּקִרְבְּכֶם (ve'et-rukhi etten beqirbekhem, "and my Spirit I will put within you"; BDB p. 924), וְעָשִׂיתִי אֵת אֲשֶׁר־בְּחֻקַּי תֵּלֵכוּ וּמִשְׁפָּטַי תִּשְׁמְרוּ וַעֲשִׂיתֶם (ve'asiti et asher-bekhuqqay telekhu umishpatay tishmeru va'asitem, "and I will cause you to walk in my statutes and keep my rules and do them"; BDB p. 349, "statute"). Swete's LXX: καὶ τὸ πνεῦμά μου δώσω ἐν ὑμῖν … ἐν τοῖς δικαιώμασίν μου πορεύησθε, καὶ τὰ κρίματά μου φυλάξησθε.

Implies The LXX has δικαιώματα with πορεύησθε and φυλάξησθε with τὰ κρίματα; Rom 2:26 joins the noun and the verb. In Ezekiel the keeping is God's gift through his Spirit. The heart and the Spirit link the passage to 2:29, and the law's requirement to 8:4.

Uncertain How far Paul draws on Ezek 36:26–27; he does not cite it. Who keeps the requirements in 2:26 is also open: Gentile believers, in whom the Spirit fulfills the law (8:4), or a hypothetical case that sharpens the charge against the Jew (see note.language.Rom.2.26.dikaiomata-logisthesetai). The answer need not match 2:14–15. On ἐν πνεύματι see note.language.Rom.2.29.circumcision-of-heart.
