ἡ ἐκ φύσεως ἀκροβυστία … σὲ τὸν διὰ γράμματος καὶ περιτομῆς

Says 2:27 reads καὶ κρινεῖ ἡ ἐκ φύσεως ἀκροβυστία τὸν νόμον τελοῦσα σὲ τὸν διὰ γράμματος καὶ περιτομῆς παραβάτην νόμου (BSB "The one who is physically uncircumcised yet keeps the law will condemn you who, even though you have the written code and circumcision, are a lawbreaker").

Says ἐκ φύσεως means "by birth, physically." Abbott-Smith lists Rom 2:27 under φύσις as "origin, birth," with Gal 2:15. τελοῦσα is "fulfilling, carrying out" the law (Abbott-Smith: "to execute, perform, complete, fulfil," Rom 2:27). κρινεῖ, future, is "will condemn" by contrast (see note.language.Rom.2.1.krino-krima).

Uncertain The force of διά in διὰ γράμματος καὶ περιτομῆς. This note leans to attendant circumstance, "with (all your) written code and circumcision" (BSB "even though you have"). The main alternative is instrumental: the code and circumcision became the means by which the transgressor relied on the law instead of keeping it.

Uncertain Statement or question. SBLGNT and WH (p. 354) end 2:27 with a full stop. RP2018 prints a question mark, which continues the question of 2:26 ("and will not … condemn you?"). The sense is the same either way. This note follows the statement punctuation of SBLGNT; the question is the main alternative.

Implies The uncircumcised law-keeper's conduct becomes evidence against the Jew, as the men of Nineveh will condemn "this generation" (Matt 12:41). Who this person is goes with 2:26 (note.language.Rom.2.26.dikaiomata-logisthesetai).
