λογικός logikos
reasonable · rational · belonging to reason or word
Team definition
An adjective formed from λόγος, used of what belongs to reason or to speech: reasonable or rational. It modifies λατρεία in Rom 12:1 (τὴν λογικὴν λατρείαν). A second New Testament use, with γάλα in 1 Pet 2:2, has been taken either in that rational sense or in a transferred sense contrasted with the literal. Which English rendering fits Rom 12:1 is a question of context, not of the lexicon entry alone.
