ἀναλογία analogia
proportion · correspondence · right relation
Team definition
From ἀνά and λόγος: proportion, or a right correspondence between things. The New Testament uses it once, in the phrase κατὰ τὴν ἀναλογίαν τῆς πίστεως (Rom 12:6), governing how prophecy is to be exercised. The preposition κατά with the accusative marks accordance with that proportion or correspondence. Whether τῆς πίστεως is the speaker's faith or a shared body of teaching is not decided by ἀναλογία itself; the noun only requires a standard to which the exercise corresponds.
