debt · what is due · duty
Team definition
A noun from the verb to owe. Its basic sense is a debt. It is also used metaphorically for what is due or for a duty. Rom 13:7 uses the plural for things owed, in a list that includes taxes, revenue, respect, and honor. The entry records that range and does not decide whether every kind of financial debt is in view.
