πλήρωμα plērōma
fullness · complement · completion · that which fills
Team definition
The result of the action in πληρόω. In a passive sense it is what has been filled or completed: complement, plenitude, or fullness. In an active sense it is what fills up, or a filling and completing. Classical writers can use it of a ship's crew or cargo. In Rom 11:12 τὸ πλήρωμα αὐτῶν is set over against trespass and failure; in Rom 11:25 τὸ πλήρωμα τῶν ἐθνῶν is what comes in. Both a full number and a completion are within the word's range; which sense those clauses take is a question of context, not of the lexicon entry alone. Other New Testament uses include John 1:16, Rom 15:29, Eph 1:23, and, of time, Gal 4:4.
