ἀποβολή apobolē
throwing away · rejection · loss
Team definition
From ἀποβάλλω: a throwing away, and so a rejection, or a losing and a loss. In Rom 11:15 ἡ ἀποβολὴ αὐτῶν is set opposite πρόσλημψις: their rejection (or casting away) over against their acceptance. The only other New Testament use is Acts 27:22, of loss of life in the shipwreck, where the sense is loss rather than rejection of a person.
