Print Ἔτι γάρ with high confidence. Every early majuscule but B, F, and G has it, and the other openings ease the doubled ἔτι. WH's Εἴ γε (B) is the main alternative; it would make 5:6 a condition ("if indeed Christ died …") leading to 5:7–8.

Εἴ γε: B; "if" also in fu*, Augustine, and Isidore (εἰ γάρ), syrsch, and cop. εἰς τί γάρ: Db F G, d e f g, vg, Irenaeus (Lat.), Faustinus.

Internal: with a second ἔτι later in the clause (var.Rom.5.6.eti), the opening ἔτι is awkward; Εἴ γε and εἰς τί γάρ both look like attempts to smooth it.
